On Monday night, I got my third Stitch Fix box! Yes, third. I haven’t shared about it on the blog yet, but I realized I HAD to talk about it. Otherwise you might think I’m starting to get some style all on my own. 😉 Plus they have a great member referral program, so if you sign-up using the links on this page, I do get Stitch Fix credits (which means I can order more boxes!)
I do NOT enjoy shopping. It’s boring, frustrating, and way too many annoying people around. Plus you have to try to remember what you have at home and what might go with whatever you’re trying on. Then you get it home & realize it doesn’t really match what was in your head.
Yea…I’m not a shopper.
But I do love cute clothes! A dilemma, right?
When Kalli first posted about Stitchfix, I had already started with Ellie for my workout clothes & loved having someone pick that out. I thought it would be worth a try for non-workout clothes and decided to give it a try!
I registered for an account at StitchFix and filled out the extensive profile. If you sign up, I recommend finding time when you at least 15 minutes to take some time with the style profile. You’ll answer questions about your size, shape, style preferences, price preferences, and a little about your life (where you’ll wear your clothes). They show you pictures of different styles & you decide what you like & don’t. You can even provide a link to your pinterest style board.
All this information helps your personal stylist get to know your preferences, so they can pick out pieces that you are more likely to enjoy! And they include little pictures with each item that shows ideas for how to style it, which can be REALLY helpful!
This is NOT a cheap box, although you can make it a little less expensive by adjusting your price preferences for each piece of clothing. It is a great way to get some unique pieces that you might not have picked out for yourself! You don’t have to get a box every month though – you can completely control over the delivery schedule. So maybe once a quarter is an idea for those on a tighter budget?
When you get your box, you have 3 business days to try everything on, pair it with other items already in your closet, make your hubby help you critique the selections, and decide what woks best for you. I love having all my clothes & shoes available to try everything on!
My boxes have averaged around $200 for 5 pieces, which is in-line with my price selections. I kept EVERYTHING in my second box, although the 5th item wasn’t my favorite. Why? Because you get an extra 25% discount when you keep everything, so it was cheaper to keep that last item.
Anything you don’t love, you package in the pre-paid envelope that’s provided in the box. So you can keep one item, or everything – it’s up to you!
I often use all 3 days to make sure I really, really want things. Like the star jeans above from this latest box. There’s something fun about them, but I don’t think it’s quite me. I am still debating though – what do you think?
Or there’s top’s like the one above that I’m sure I’ll love, but then don’t lay quite right. That one is going back for sure! Well…unless I keep the jeans, because then I think it’s cheaper to keep the top & figure out how to make it work for me.
After packing the return envelope, you head online to checkout & provide feedback. For each piece that they sent, you give feedback on the size, price, style, & fit/cut. There’s also a spot for additional comments on each. Think of this as giving feedback directly to your personal stylist, so that your next box is even better!
A few of my favorites from past Stitch Fix Boxes.
I get more complements on my Stitch Fix clothes than anything else in my closet. And I love that it’s not clothes that everyone else has! I wore my new striped dress, jacket, and necklace to work today and got at least 5 comments on the outfit. In fact, it may make another appearance at Blend. 🙂
I wish I had a fun discount code or something to share, but this isn’t a company I’m working with – just one I love and HAD to share with you. I hope this helps someone else who like cute clothes more than they like shopping! 🙂
