Last weekend, I had the opportunity to participate in a Jim Fielder photography workshop in Breckenridge. The workshop was a birthday present from Kirk and his parents back in November, a very thoughtful choice! I honestly didn’t know much about Jim Fielder before this experience, but he is known as one of preeminent landscape photographers in Colorado.

The day started with reviewing the basics of photography, with examples of how to apply each using his photos. After the morning lecture, we headed out to photograph the shapes and textures around Breckenridge with the opportunity for critiques of our photos. In the late afternoon, we headed to Green Mountain for photography in the field, including more critiques along the way.

I still have a lot to learn and practice, but I am very happy with my progress and the feedback I received at the workshop. It was a great (and 12 hour long) experience and one I would highly recommend.
