WIAW with Lia Sophia Jewelry!

May 23, 2012 By Heather Blackmon

.

Today was a good day! I woke up early, while it was still cool outside and got a short & easy run in before work. Just enough time for 3 miles (which is shorter than I’d like right now), but 3 miles is better than 0 miles! I’ll share more on this in a future post, but suffice it to say I haven’t been very consistent with my training recently. Working on it!

What I Ate Yesterday

I need something before I run, so I tried out this new Vega Energizing Smoothie mixed with water before the run. Full review to come – stay tuned!

I rushed around after my run to make it to work for an early meeting with my mentoring group. I made a big bowl of oatmeal with brown sugar + raisins to enjoy during our meeting.

Knowing veggies would be mostly absent at dinner, I loaded up at lunch. A big plate of veggies, mixed with sweet potato, and topped by salsa. I may have been inspired by this meal posted by Lindsay yesterday!

I came home from work with a LOT to do before I had company over for a Lia Sophia jewelry party. Somehow, I managed to throw together mini-pimiento cheeze sandwiches, chocolate coconut shortbread cookies, and “bacon” white bean hummus. To be honest, I wasn’t thrilled with my impromptu cookies, but they have potential (although I only have 4 left, and I made a lot)– a recipe to tweak for another time!

Lia Sophia Party

I wasn’t always a jewelry person. In fact, for the first 8 years of my work-life, I really didn’t wear anything. At all. But after picking up a few small pieces when I travelled, I hosted a Lia Sophia party a few years ago and I was hooked! About half of my “jewelry closet” is filled with pieces from Lia Sophia and it’s really awesome stuff.

Last night, I was happy to host my second party, with my awesome friend Malinda as the consultant! She spent a few minutes giving an overview of the company and a contest for a cute pair of earrings (which my mom won!).

It was great to see some good friends, some I hadn’t seen in far too long! We had wine, food, and shopping in the dining room. It really was so much fun and I loved every minute of it!

My free hostess gift was this amazing wood & silver double necklace – I can’t wait to show this one off!

I also picked out a whole bunch of other awesome pieces, which I should be able to show off in a week or so. Including this necklace that I also gave to my sister for Christmas. I almost kept it for myself then, but decided you are supposed to give gifts that you like, right?

I’ll share the rest when it arrives – don’t you worry!

In both cases, we need to protect the land we enjoy on our adventures. And Leave No Trace is one program that helps with that - especially those that have a high rate of degradation through a program called Hot Spots.

I'm excited to be partnering with @leavenotrace and @onxbackcountry to celebrate and preserve all these beautiful outdoor places. And for all of June, $10 of every onX Backcountry membership is being donated towards Leave No Trace’s Hot Spot program. A great way to get access to my favorite backcountry app AND support LNT!

I added a link in my bio if you're interested in learning more, so you can help #ExploreandRestore!

What scares me is probably different than what scares you.

I am admittedly a timid mountain biker - but getting better every day.

I'm afraid to face plant, but still working on crow pose in yoga.

For at least part of the day, it's just easier to put on yoga pants, sports bra, and a "zoom-appropriate" top. Or a button-up layered over my workout tank. It makes it SO much easier to squeeze in a workout when I have time.

Tell me I'm not the only one who's not going back to work clothes?!

But really, keep your gaze straight ahead to keep your neck safe in bridge (or Setu Bandha Sarvangasana). It's rare that a version of this pose isn't included during cooldown in my classes.

Do you love bridge as much as I do?
