Mid-Year Goal Review + Lime Smoothie Recipe!

I am usually all over my goals, but I realized while reading others’ posts that I haven’t talked about my goals since January! I think it’s time to take a look back and review what I wanted to accomplish and where I am today. And if you stick with me until the end of this post, I’ll share with you a delicious, refreshing lime smoothie recipe that I’ve been enjoying with all our extra limes this week!

2012 Goals

1.  Keep God as #1 Priority by making time for quiet time every day.

I can’t say I’ve done this as faithfully as I’d like, but I’ve had a fairly good year so far. I’ve completed a study on James, memorized the first book of James, and completed a study on Daniel. I’m currently working my way through the Soul Detox study that was recommended by She Reads Truth. I don’t think there’s ever enough time spent in the Word and spending time with God, so I want to continue to focus on this area and make my life more and more focused on Him.

2.  At least one planned “Date Night” per month for good quality one-on-one time. We already do a good job of hanging out together, but want to be sure we are putting the right emphasis on still dating as a married couple.

We did a fabulous job on this for the first few months, but honestly have fallen off the wagon a bit with the job changes and relocation. We have done a good job of spending alone time together, but not as date night focused as I had originally planned.

3.  Complete my USAT Coaching certification by July and figure out how best to put my certifications to good use. =)

DONE!! This one is off the list as I am a certified coach and actively coaching athletes. I am still working to grow our coaching business, but happy with where we are so far!

4.  Run 1440 miles in 2012 – which averages out to 120 miles a month (30 miles a week). Some weeks will be higher and some lower, but I want to keep my yearly average in this range. My sub-goal here is to finally break the 4:00 marathon mark!

I crushed 4 hours with a 3:55:xx marathon at New Orleans in March – YAY!!

I haven’t done a very good job of logging my miles as I usually have. In my life of trying to juggle everything, this has slipped a bit, although I think I have all the data spread around and can be recreated. Something for me to look into in the next month or so!

5.  Do something to improve Better With Veggies every month – blogger conference, design updates, etc. Specific “to-do” list to be determined.

This has been a good year so far, let’s review.

  • January I was able to go to my first conference – FoodBlog South. It was a great experience and expanded my network of bloggers.
  • February there was a lot of stuff underway, but nothing launched.
  • March was the re-design of Better With Veggies plus the launch of coaching services!
  • April was the month of my USAT coaching clinic, where I finally earned my certification.
  • May was BLEND – I can’t say enough about how amazing this retreat was. Amazing! But I tried here, here, here, here, and here.
  • June was preempted by the move decision – didn’t quite meet my goal this month.

So I have met my goals in some areas, some not. Honestly, if you meet ALL your goals I sometimes wonder if your sights were set high enough. Must mean I had a good level of challenge, right?!

Lime Smoothie

I love when a quick recipe that I throw together with leftover ingredients turns into something I love. That’s how this lime smoothie came about – and you’ll see it’s barely a recipe! We bought an insane amount of limes this weekend for the farewell party. As we were trying to eat our way through the leftovers, I decided limes might go well in a green smoothie. I was very excited to see how well this went. Laura also suggested adding cilantro to this, which I think would be fantastic, although I haven’t had the chance to try it yet.
