Gift Guide for Healthy Nutrition & Cooking

November 20, 2018 By Heather Blackmon

.

I used to be quite the aspiring chef! I loved making new & complex recipes daily, rarely repeating the same things twice. That changed a few years ago & my preference now is for simple meals — although still delicious! This gift guide is perfect for anyone who enjoying cooking, no matter what type of recipes they prefer. I even included my favorite meal delivery services in the mix to help you skip grocery shopping time.

You can click on any image in the gift guide above for more information, or scroll down to view a list of my recommendations below (all product names are linked).

Healthy Travel

Bose QuietComfort 20 Acoustic Noise Cancelling Headphones

For international travel, in-ear headphones are a must-have for sleep. The big, over-the-ear headphones have to be taken off to lay down! For me, I need the quiet to sleep well during a flight – I plug these into my phone and turn up the sound machine for restful sleep (yes, even on a plane!).

Bose QuietComfort 35 (Series II) Wireless Headphones

If you take mostly short trips, you may prefer these over-the-ear headphones for better comfort for daytime trips. This is what I used when international travel was very infrequent for me.

Amazon Kindle Oasis E-reader

This is the the 3rd (or 4th) Kindle I have owned & with as much as I read it’s required! I always get one with both Wifi and 3G, so I can download a new book without waiting for a wifi connection. This has saved me on more than one delayed flight when I finished my last book before takeoff. I love that this new version is waterproof, which makes reading while relaxing in a bath much safer.

Away Luggage

I have tried a lot of luggage over the years and finally found one that looks good, makes packing easier, and actually holds up to frequent travel. We now have 3 away bags — 1 carry-on and 2 medium — and love them all. Their warranty is incredible, a simple exchange when one of ours was damaged by a luggage belt.

Big Travel Tote

I have the original, lavender version of this bag from Betabrand and it comes with me on every trip. It’s big enough to hold everything you need for air travel or road trips, but small enough to be comfortable & fit underneath the seat in front of you. It converts between a shoulder bag & backpack, plus fits over your roller bag.

Serenity™ Restful Complex Softgels

Shifting your sleep schedule to match your destination is key to adjusting to a new timezone. When I step on the plan, I change my watch to match where I’m going. This often means I need to get to sleep at a strange time & these all-natural softgels are a great help! No chemicals, just a safe and effective blend of the highest quality essential oils. I take these 20 minutes before i want to go to sleep. You can learn more about how to save 25% off your purchase here: fitaspire.com/essentialoils

Mito2Max® – Stimulant Free Energy

When switching timezones, your sleep & awake schedule are key to adapting quickly. When I need to stay awake, these stimulant free and natural supplements help a lot! These work with your mitochondria to create natural energy that leave you jittery. Learn how to save 25% on this and other doTERRA products: fitaspire.com/essentialoils

URPOWER Diffuser

We always pack a diffuser when traveling, to get the benefit of essential oils in our home away from home. When I arrive in a new hotel or condo, I immediately plug this in and diffuse an immune boosting oil (like On Guard) to cleanse the air and freshen the room. I have several diffusers, but this is the one I pack for travel most often.

Bedtime Bliss Sleep Mask

If you are sensitive to light during sleep (as I am), you’ll want a few of these eye masks. I really like the contouring around the eyes to remove any pressure when sleeping.

BESTEK Universal Travel Adapter

If you’re traveling internationally, it’s good to have a selection of adaptors to choose from. This helps you have what you need no matter where you’re off to, because we all need to charge our devices these days. 🙂

7Senses Hanging Toiletry Bag

I went through a lot of bags before I found this one! I wanted a bag that fit all my toiletries, can stand on it’s own, and holds up over travel. There are so many pockets on this bag, it makes staying organized so much easier for any length trip.

Hi! I’m Heather, a yoga & wellness teacher based in Colorado... Read More…

OOF! Has anyone else been struggling with workouts OOF! Has anyone else been struggling with workouts recently? ⬇️

The past month (or so) has had a lot of stuff that interrupted mountain biking. It's been start & stop between travel and eye surgery - which has made cycling feel HARD!

And I'm more sore than I should be.(Thank God for yoga to help!)

But I'm staying put for a bit and will be spending some quality time on my bike. And hopefully finding time for backpacking in between.
When was the last time you spoiled yourself? ⬇️

✨ A bubble bath and a book on a weekend.
✨ Getting a new outfit that makes you feel amazing & confident
✨ Taking the vacation. Even when it doesn't seem like the "right time"

Spoiling yourself is not selfish. It's self-love.

And when you can show yourself love, you have more to give to everyone around you.

I've been very blessed to be able to take more vacations this year - which is something I love so much. My favorite self-love activity!

This is a BTS peak into my yoga practice in Honduras last week. I often video my personal practice, so I can remember any transitions for future classes.

What is your favorite transition? What poses do you want me to break down in the future?
