Making Every Day More Like Vacation

Happy Labor Day!! When we take vacation that overlaps with a holiday, we always say it doesn’t even count as a real vacation day. It’s free days and vacation doesn’t really start until tomorrow, even though we are currently in France. Yes, we’re nerdy like that!

Since I think we all could use a little more vacation, l thought it would be fun to look at a few ways to make EVERY day like a holiday.

4 Easy Tips

1. Slow Mornings

I love the feeling of some extra time to relax in the morning. Just 15 minutes extra can make a huge difference, so you can slowly sip your coffee, read a magazine, listen to the birds chirp, or whatever sounds peaceful to you!

2. Plan Time to Relax

Many of us tend to overschedule our life and go from event to event. How about scheduling down time in each day, so you have a chance to unwind? Give it a try – I know I’m going to!

3. Visit a new Place (Explore your City)

This one might be easiest on the weekend, but visit someplace you haven’t been in your own city. Is there a popular tourist location that you’ve never visited? Make some time to actually visit and be a tourist in your own town!

4. Get outside more (before or after work)

At least once a week, Kirk and I plan a coffee date and walk to the Starbucks near our house. Getting outside for even a little while can make you feel more relaxed (the Vitamin D doesn’t hurt!) and out of your routine.

I am admittedly a timid mountain biker - but getting better every day.

I'm afraid to face plant, but still working on crow pose in yoga.

Am I the only one still (basically) living in yoga Am I the only one still (basically) living in yoga clothes?

For at least part of the day, it's just easier to put on yoga pants, sports bra, and a "zoom-appropriate" top. Or a button-up layered over my workout tank. It makes it SO much easier to squeeze in a workout when I have time.

Tell me I'm not the only one who's not going back to work clothes?!

But really, keep your gaze straight ahead to keep your neck safe in bridge (or Setu Bandha Sarvangasana). It's rare that a version of this pose isn't included during cooldown in my classes.
