It’s the time of year where eating outside is a wonderful experience. Blue skies, chirping birds, mountain vistas in the background. Well, that last part might depend on where you live, but you get the idea. The summer just screams for picnics!

Check out 12 Healthy Summer Picnic Recipes
When I think of picnics, there’s a few things I look for. Portable, served room temperature, nothing too messy, and easy to share. In this month’s collection, I pulled together 12 recipes that you can choose from to plan your next picnic. With several options in each category, there are plenty to choose from, but sometimes it’s nice to have an example to get you started.
Healthy Summer Picnic Menu
- Appetizer: Garlicky Black Eyed Pea Hummus
- Entrée: Avocado Awakening Pasta
- Side Dish: Salad Skewers with Tarragon Vinaigrette
- Dessert: Rhubarb Crumble
- Drinks: Meyer Lemon & Jasmine Iced Tea
Remember to pack the other essentials for your picnic – a blanket, utensils, plates, glasses, napkins. Although we don’t use it much, we do have a cute wicker picnic basket we got as a wedding gift that gives things a quaint feel. There are also picnic backpacks that are better when you’re going to hike a bit further to find the perfect spot to set up your meal.
