Confession….I don’t always follow my own advice. Even when I know it’s the right advice, it can be hard to swallow.
As I mentioned a few weeks ago, I had a wreck on the bike at Ironman in July. Since then, I’ve been struggling with my knee during the run and have been seeing my favorite sports doc regularly to address the problem. Unfortunately, I’m still struggling with pain on the run in my knee, although it has gotten better at times.
We’re under 6 weeks from the Marine Corp Marathon now, and my running mileage is way below my plan and most long runs have not been good. What would I advise someone else to do? Back off… let your knee recover… there are plenty of other races. MCM even has a transfer or defer policy which would be MUCH less expensive than other races I’ve dealt with.
If I’m honest – I don’t think I’ll be running at MCM, but I’m not ready to commit it yet. I’m going to run this week, hopefully run a half marathon in Blairsville on Saturday, and then make a decision for real.
On an unrelated and happier topic, you may have noticed the new badge on my blog (right) for Vegan Month of Food (VeganMoFo):
What is VeganMoFo? It’s a month of writing about Vegan Food on blogs around the web. It’s open to any blogger, whether Vegan or not, as long as the posts for the month are strictly Vegan (pictures and all). VeganMoFo officially starts in October, so stay tuned!
Question of the Day – Do you take your own advice? Have you regretted not taking your own advice, or did it work out?
